Written by Dr. Katia Dayan Vladimirova, this Substack is an extension of the Post Growth Fashion Agency, where you can join conversations and ask questions about the most pressing topics around post growth fashion.

Fashion Futures 2040 is a collaborative project of the International Research Network on Sustainable Fashion Consumption. This report is intended to serve as a conversation starter rather than a prediction of the future. To explore together possible varieties of experiencing fashion sustainably. To encourage a further, more profound discussion around the future of fashion we want to see in our lifetime.

Unfit, Unfair, Unfashionable: Resizing Fashion for a Fair Consumption Space is a groundbreaking 2022 report from the Hot or Cool Institute that for the first time took a close look at fashion consumption inequalities and attempted to quantify consumption limits in light of the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Agreement.

This report (2023) is a result of a research project funded by the City of Geneva between 2020 and 2022. It proposes a number of recommendations that could be implemented at the level of the City / Canton of Geneva to help support sustainable fashion initiatives, as part of building circular textile ecosystem at an urban level.

Conceptual framework for sustainable fashion consumption within the circular fashion system - complements the circular vision of the fashion system by elaborating on the “USE” phase of the circular fashion system. This model represents a consensus vision of the place of sustainable fashion consumption practices among the members of the International research network on Sustainable Fashion Consumption.

A wealth of resources on circular fashion can be found on the Ellen MacArthur Foundation website, including the pioneering 2017 report on The New Textiles Economy (a bit outdated now but still, a crucial read for those who seek to understand the broader issues related to fashion).
United Nations Environment Program - work on textiles
At the international level, the One UNEP Textiles Initiative offers three reports to dive into: two stocktaking reports from 2020 and 2023 and a Fashion Communication Playbook from 2023.
Compass to reducing consumption: A practical guide to freeing yourself from excess (2024)
Written by a research team at TU Berlin, this Guide contains both interesting and novel insights into the reasons for overconsumption and accumulation of stuff - and practical tips on how to declutter and maintain good habits of living lightly afterwards.
